Jenny Smith Joins Carefirst Bluecross Blueshield As Chief Financial Officer

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield hired Jenny Smith as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  Reporting to Brian Pieninck, the CareFirst CEO, Jenny will lead a diverse financial organization driving innovation and financial strategy for this expanding business.  Previously, Jenny was the CFO of Kaiser Permanente’s Northwest Region and authored a significant turnaround of that multi-billion dollar region.  Before turning around the regional CFO role, Jenny led capital markets strategy at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic and was groomed in financial management with earlier roles in finance, operations and strategic planning.

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is the Mid-Atlantic region’s largest private sector health insurer, serving the healthcare needs of 3.5 million members in Maryland, the District of Columbia and portions of northern Virginia with nearly $10B in revenue.
