Dan Kepler serves a broad client base while leading Chartwell’s industrial products and services, transportation, and technology sectors. Dan joined Chartwell from Heidrick & Struggles, where he was a partner in the Chicago office. Previously, he spent 10 years with Russell Reynolds Associates, where he ran their North America Automotive Practice.
Dan has recruited chief executive officers and senior corporate officers for both private and publicly traded companies. His track record of success in recruiting leaders for private equity (PE), family-owned and privately held companies is particularly strong. The majority of Dan’s work focuses on identifying candidates that fit an organization’s culture and produce transformational change.
Dan’s earlier work focused on C-level engagements for billion-dollar organizations. Highlights of his more recent work include successfully recruiting CEOs and CFOs for industrial, private equity (PE) portfolio companies and privately held, family and or ESOP organizations. In addition to Dan’s C-level work, he has also been successful in recruiting Presidents or Divisional P&L leaders for businesses that required growth and or turnaround leadership. Functional leadership assignments include: finance, manufacturing operations, sales and marketing, human resources, marketing, engineering, information officers and, more recently, chief security officers.
Prior to his career in executive search, Dan was with AT&T and MCI Telecommunications. Dan’s career began as an options trader on The Chicago Board Options Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Dan received his BA in Economics Management from Ohio Wesleyan University and his MBA from DePaul University. He lives in Deerfield, Illinois, with his wife, Debbie, and their three children.
